About us





Tien Lung Taekwon-Do is a non-profit organization founded with the original goal of improving Taekwon-Do quality and presence in Alberta. In 1992, Tien Lung started as a “set up and take down” club in school gymnasiums. With rapid growth over the years, a training center or “Dojang” was established in 1996. Due to the high level of instruction and quality of the programs, the Dojang eventually expanded to 15, 000 square feet in 2003. The very same location remains the Headquarters to this day. Over the years, Tien Lung has trained several world class athletes, coaches, and instructors. Having both set the competitive bar and achieved it, Tien Lung has now shifted their focus towards working with parents to help them develop their children into fit, confident, and successful community members.



Senior Master Wisniewski





Senior Master Wisniewski is a certified 8th Degree Black Belt in Taekwon-Do. He is the C.E.O. and joint Technical Director for Tien Lung Taekwon-Do, which he founded in September 1992. SM Wisniewski also has extensive experience in other Martial Arts, as well as P.P.C.T. Defensive Tactics. He was a consistent Municipal, Provincial, Western Canadian, and National Champion from the time he was a colour belt. SM Wisniewski has been an official coach for Team Canada at the World Championships eleven times. SM Wisniewski loves to teach any time and anywhere in English, French or Spanish. He was awarded the I.T.F. Outstanding Instructor Medal in 2010. As you come to know him, you will realize that his dream is to make this world a better place through the teaching of Taekwon-Do and its moral culture. SM Wisniewski is dedicated to ensuring that his students reach their fullest potential. He is also a patented inventor and motivational public speaker. In addition, he has been sharing his knowledge of how to apply science and biomechanics to make breaking easy as a columnist for Taekwon-Do Times. Most recently he wrote the Secret Art of Protocol & Etiquette.



Senior Master Wisniewski


Master Wisniewski





Master Wisniewski, Tien Lung’s C.C.O. and joint Technical Director is a certified 7th Degree Black Belt in Taekwon-Do. Master Wiz, (as she is known to the students), has a history of successful competition; she was a consistent medallist at every tournament she attended. She was a member of the Canadian National Team for the World and Pan American Championships in 1996/97/98, 2001 and 2005, and incidentally, Tien Lung’s first female black belt. Master Wiz was an official Team Canada coach at the World Championships in Honduras, Canada, Russia and Bulgaria. With SM Wisniewski, they have trained 13 World Champions, 12 Silvers and 43 bronze medalists. Before studying Taekwon-Do, Master Wiz also had a successful competitive gymnastics career. She is not only exceptional in her competitive skills but also in her ability to meet life’s other challenges, as she proves every day by coping with 96% hearing loss. She received the Edmonton’s Woman of Vision Award in 2000. Master Wiz recently completed her Bachelor of Education After Degree with Distinction.

Mr. Phung





Mr. Phung, Tien Lung’s C.O.O., is a certified 4th Degree Black Belt in Taekwon-Do. Starting at the age of 9, he has trained with Tien Lung for over 15 years. Being both a fierce competitor and dedicated instructor, he continues to inspire his students to become their best. As a member of the Canadian Team, Mr. Phung has competed around the world in Estonia, China, and The Netherlands. He shows his strong passion for Taekwon-Do through his constant devotion towards teaching and training. From exciting and dynamic classes to fun-filled day camps, he always has a great time with his students. Outside the dojang, Mr. Phung is also a skilled pianist and has recently completed his Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of Alberta.
