Canadian
National Championships
Tien
Lung North (Sabumnym Wisniewski's) is hosting the Canadian National
Taekwon-Do Championships right here in Edmonton, at the Northlands
Agricom!!
The
tournament is on November 28 & 29, 2008.
Registration
for the Canadian National Championships is now ONLINE! Show
your school support and go to www.tienlung.com
to register.
Save
$20 by registering early!
$65.00 if registered by November 14
$85.00 if registered by November 21
Remember,
all Tien Lung students are required to attend at least two Tien
Lung hosted tournaments as a colour belt before testing for
Black Belt. There's no time like the present to get started!!
This
tournament is for all ages (including Little Dragons!) and all
belt levels (including White Belts!). All competitors will be
divided up by age, rank and gender (for teens and adults).
Colour
belt divisions will be kept small giving everyone a chance at
winning a medal.
A
primarily white dobok is required, which means students can
wear their 'Future Black Belt' dobok to the Nationals!
Give
your child and/or yourself the chance to be a NATIONAL champion!!
Tien
Lung tournaments are FUN!!
If
you have any further questions or need more information contact
the Dojang.
Volunteers
Needed!!
To
make the Canadian National Championships a success we rely on
help from volunteers. The volunteers are a large part of making
the tournaments run smoothly.
To
be a part of this fantastic event, please sign up for one of
the volunteer positions. The sign up sheets and job descriptions
can be found in the viewing room back wall. All volunteers will
receive a free shirt and meal. We are looking for both competitors
and non-competitors. But don't worry; when it's your turn or
your child's turn to compete, you can request a floater to cover
your position for you, go and compete, or watch your child,
and then resume your duties to help keep the ball rolling.
Another
advantage for volunteers is that if your child is competing
you can go and watch right from the floor level by their ring
instead of in the stands.

Bring
A Buddy Day!
Bring
your friend to Bring a Buddy Day on Tuesday, October 7th! Have a
blast introducing basic Taekwon-Do to your friends. All you have
to do is pick up a Guest Waiver form (they will be handed out in
class prior to Buddy Day), have your buddy sign it (or your buddy's
parent if he is under 18), bring the form and your friend at 6:30
p.m., and have an awesome time!
You can bring
your buddy on this night even if it's not your regular training
day! All classes are combined and the only class is at 6:30 p.m.!
All other classes are canceled.
Psssst.....
this is an excellent way to fulfill the Qualification Code that
you need for your next Graduation Day! Please note that friends
without a waiver signed by their own parent will not be allowed
to participate due to insurance policies. Please pick up a waiver
form in advance from your instructor or the Front Desk.

Pro-Shop Sale
Do you need an extra training Dobok? Has your child outgrown their
Dobok? We are blowing out our stock of competition doboks! You can
purchase a new competition dobok for $35.00 at the Front Desk. Each
of these will need a Tien Lung dobok and ITF crest prior to being
able to be worn in class. Limited sizes are available.
And just to remind you, NO: You are not required to have one
of these for the Nationals or ANY Tien Lung hosted event unless
you are a Black belt. And YES: You can wear these to class as well.
Halloween
Coupons & Tien Lung Posters
All of the students will be getting a booklet of Halloween Coupons
to hand out to Trick or Treaters on Halloween Night! Or you can
hand them out to your friends that may be thinking of joining you
in class.
What's in it
for you? Write your ID Number on the back of each coupon you hand
out. If someone brings one of the coupons back to the Dojang with
your name on it and registers for the fall special, you get to pick
a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch! Behind each pumpkin is a prize.
The student who brings in the most cards will win a FREE Tien Lung
Tracksuit! Remember, your referrals have to bring their coupon in
and register before November 30 to be eligible!
You can also
pick up a Tien Lung Poster at the front desk. Display the posters
in your Community (restaurants, schools, work place, libraries as
long as you have permission). Remember to label the back of each
tear of sheet with your ID number. This is another great opportunity
to earn Tien Lung Membership rewards, and show your Tien Lung Pride!

Something
to Think About...
|
|
Top
6 Reasons NOT to go to the Canadian National Championships
1. I'll wait
for the next one.
Every Tournament you don't go to means you/your child will be 1,
2 or 3 belt levels higher and now you/your child will be competing
with other who did go to previous tournaments at lower levels so
they have a huge advantage over you/your child.
2. It's too
expensive.
Well, the next tournament could be out of town, so you might have
to take a day off work, pay for transportation, a hotel, restaurants
etc.
3. I'll just
watch this time, next time I'll compete.
In previous years others have come to watch and then wanted to participate
at the last minute but are unable to. Don't be an "I wish I
had
" person, be an "I'm glad I tried
"
person.
4. I am not
interested in competition.
You/your child may not be interested in winning a medal, but you
should be interested in the benefits. Those who register for the
tournaments train harder in order to be ready, and afterwards they
learn from their experience and train with even greater enthusiasm.
Don't miss out!
5. I am too
scared to compete.
This is one of the main reasons to compete. If you/your child is
too scared to try out your skills in a fun, safe, caring environment,
how will you/they react against an aggressive person in a hostile
self-defense situation? Small steps like attending a tournament
will build your/your child's confidence for more serious situations.
6. I don't
want to pay online.
You don't have to. You can pay over the phone or at the front desk.
But if you are worried about using your credit card online, be aware
we are using a 128 bit encrypted link. (Notice the lock pad in the
bottom right corner). You are in greater danger of having someone
steal your credit card number as you order pizza on your cordless
phone at home.
Challenge
yourself, get involved, and have fun in a safe and productive setting!
See you there!
