Attention
Parents Re: Parking
It has been
brought to our attention that there have been some issues regarding
parking and drop offs. We are now asking Parents and some Instructors
to help us police our parking lot between classes. We are also installing
surveillance cameras for your safety.
Where can
you park?
1) In any stalls in the front of the building except the 4 that
are directly across from our entrance (these are for our Daily Dragon
vehicles),
2) Along
the North side of the building,
3) Along
33rd Avenue,
4) Behind
the building has lots of extra spaces.
Where can
you NOT park (or stop)?
1)
DO NOT stop in front of our entrance. Find a stall, park and walk.
2) DO
NOT patrol our lot slowly waiting for your children to exit. This
causes excess unnecessary traffic.
3) DO
NOT double park or block someone in even if you think it will
only be for a minute for your child.
If you feel
you need to speak to someone directly about their parking/driving
please do so respectfully and courteously. If you are spoken to
in this way and asked to move your vehicle please do so courteously.
If a situation arises that we deem is unacceptable your child may
be suspended from class.
If we all work together, these issues will not happen.

Something
to Think About...
|
|
The
"DO"
People begin
practicing Taekwon-Do for many different reasons. For many, the
self-defense aspect is the most important selling point. For others,
it's the fitness. Elements of these things can be found in other
activities such as soccer, swimming, etc. but there's one thing
Taekwon-Do teaches that you can't learn anywhere else: learning
the "Do" in Taekwon-Do transcends simply learning a set
of physical skills. Virtually everyone who chooses Taekwon-Do as
an activity considers this the most important element of his own
or his children's training.
"Do"
or "The Way" means many things. It means respect, courage,
integrity and honesty to name a few. These are qualities that are
valuable in all aspects of one's life. For example, in school, you
must be respectful to your teachers. At home, you must help your
parents out with chores. When you are in public places, certain
things are expected of you, too. You open doors for people and generally
conduct yourself in a respectful manner. These expectations continue
when you enter the dojang. When you come to Tien Lung, you are treated
in a respectful and courteous manner. Courtesy and respect are also
expected from everyone who comes through the door.
One of the easiest
ways to demonstrate courtesy at your dojang is to do a good job
representing your dojang. Tien Lung has the privilege of hosting
the Nationals this year. That means students and instructors from
ALL OVER CANADA will be here in our city not to mention local dignitaries
and business people. Imagine that you were someone from another
province coming to visit the city. What do you think your impression
would be of Tien Lung if you got to the Northlands Agricom and saw
hundreds of Tien Lung students and supporters showing up for the
tournament? We can show the whole country what an awesome school
we are when it comes to ALL aspects of Taekwon Do training. Not
just the punching and kicking, but the finer points of courtesy,
respect, support and unity. Imagine if you were a student visiting
from another province and you get to the Northlands Agricom to see
a poor turnout of Tien Lung students. You may wonder what kinds
of values they teach at a school where the students don't bother
to show up for the biggest tournament in the country. Besides the
fact that competing is in and of itself a valuable learning experience,
competing in a tournament that your own school hosts is valuable
in terms of showing your respect and pride for your school and yourself.
Here at Tien
Lung, we promote the idea of the "Do" in some very real
and concrete ways. The reason for Qualification requirements and
the Intent to Promote forms at Exam time is because we would like
what we teach to follow through to the rest of the students' lives:
at school and at home. Now that the Nationals has come along, the
best way to show your children what courtesy and respect are is
for you and your children to come to the tournament and support
their school and their fellow students. No matter what kids get
taught in Taekwon Do, the thing that solidifies this knowledge is
when its demonstrated by their parents.
There's
LESS THAN 1-MONTH left to register!! You can register by going to
