Master Blake Memorial

Born February 26th , 1944 in Montreal, Quebec.

He had a lifelong passion for combative arts including, boxing, karate and Ju-jitsu.
He became the combative instructor (karate then Taekwon-Do) at the Center of Immaculate Conception (now known as the Pere-Sablon Center) from 1967 until his passing in 2001.

1979 he organized an amazing tournament between Taekwon-Do members of Haiti and those of Quebec.

March 1991, he became the first Canadian Born instructor to earn the rank of 7th degree, and in 1999 he received his 8th degree, both directly from the hand of General Choi Hong Hi.

May 1999, he hosted the largest Canadian Championship ever with 1200 competitors from across Canada attending.

In May 2001, at the age of 57 he passed away at his home in Montreal.

He was posthumously awarded the “Outstanding Instructor Award” from the ITF.

On May 15th 2010, Master Andre Blake posthumously received “The Order of the ITF”, the Highest honor the ITF can bestow.

His students remember his contagious passion and his dedication to Taekwon-Do and General Choi Hong Hi.
